Last Friday, 13th March, saw the launch of Science Week. We exploded onto the scene by embracing three themes: Science Week, Red Nose Day – Comic Relief and Friday the 13th. These themes led to our whole school cross curricular ‘Blood’ theme. From Zombies (in Year 7) to Jesters (in Year 11), everyone came dressed to thrill!!
We were privileged to have a visit by a biomedical scientist from the Royal Marsden Hospital who delivered talks to students on blood and the importance of screening. We then opened our doors to Reptile Events, who brought lizards, snakes and even a four stone albino python. Students took part activities throughout the week and science themed education visits. The week ended with a celebration of students’ work and a hands-on exhibition in our main hall which was attended by parents and carers and photographed by the South London Press.
It was a fantastic week, full of learning and interactive fun. We look forward to an even bigger and better Science Week next year.
