Pupils at Elm Court are encouraged to learn to appreciate different countries, cultures, communities and people. By choosing Spanish our pupils gain the ability to understand and communicate in another language and develop a lifelong skill that can be used for work or leisure.
KS3: Through Years 6, 7, 8 and 9 pupils learn about topics such as My World, Holidays and School. Pupils practice Speaking and Listening, Writing as well as Reading by engaging in fun activities. By the end of KS3, pupils will be put forward for an Entry Level Certificate (ELC).
KS4: Pupils in Years 10 and 11 can study Spanish as an option. Pupils can develop the knowledge they gained in KS3 and work towards the FCSE that helps pupils develop communication skills routinely acquired at levels of study equivalent to National Curriculum Levels 4, 5 or 6. This qualification bridges the gap between ELC and GCSE. Pupils making outstanding progress could also have the opportunity to get a GCSE.
