Computing at Elm Court

“Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is most important.”
― Bill Gates

Computing and ICT play a large and important part of every day and school life.  Our computing curriculum encourages our students to participate in activities that enable them to enjoy, explore and maximise their potential.

KS3: Through Years 7, 8 and 9, the students study a curriculum which will prepare them to think logically and critically, understand the role of computing and ICT in their lives and use them effectively. To achieve this, our students are given several opportunities to develop knowledge and competencies in the following:

  • Algorithms
  • Computer Programming and Development
  • Data and Data Representation
  • Hardware and Processing
  • Communication and Networks
  • Information Technology

KS4: Across both Years 10 and 11 students study to build on what they have learnt in KS3 in order to develop their knowledge and understanding in Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy. This is to ensure that they have acquired the necessary ICT and Computing skills required for further studies and also function effectively at the workplace after their secondary education.

Additionally, students at this level are prepared to sit for the OCR Entry Level 1 to 3 qualifications in computing.
