Art and Design at Elm Court
“Everything you can imagine is real.” Pablo Picasso
Art at Elm Court has been specially designed to cater for the differing needs of our pupils and we feel using a creative curriculum enhances the opportunities for our pupils enabling them to access the National Curriculum and higher level qualifications. Learning artistic and design skills is an important part of this subject area as it enables pupils to develop techniques and problem solving skills. Practising practical skills improves our pupils’ fine motor skills and builds self confidence in a creative manner. Each year we have an Arts Festival that celebrates a variety of skills in Art, Design, Dance, Drama and Music. The Arts Festival is run over two full days and celebrates everything Arty! Some of the workshops we offer during the festival include: Mural Painting on location, Music Technology and Hip-Hop. The Arts Festival has been very successful over the last three years and it has impacted on the pupils’ attainment by building self-confidence and skills that relate to careers within the Arts.
