KidZania is an indoor city, run by kids!

On Wednesday the 22nd of November, 9GW attended a school outing, to Kidzania, based in the Westfield’s shopping centre in Stratford. The event was organised by the Variety Club of Great Britain and the day was sponsored by Crest Nicholson, who paid for all the pupil and staff tickets.  9GW travelled via bus and tube train, requiring the students to read an underground tube map, and navigate us to and from our destination.

Pupils were able to, independently choose from more than 60 real-life entertaining activities in one safe and secure space.

Activities ranged from Window cleaner, Doctor, Dentist, Police Officer to Firefighter, Actor and Singer or studying for a degree at the Kidzania University. 9GW students were able to, get a fun and realistic insight into the adult world by taking part in a choice of ‘jobs’ which earned them kidZos (KidZania currency) and then leisure activities such as the Climbing Building, where they needed to spend their kidZos. Once any students had earned 75 kidZos they were able to open a bank account and receive their very own bank card, just like mum and dad!

All pupils and staff had a very entertaining and informative day. Pupils really understood the importance of working, earning money, saving, money management which encouraged pupils to think about and discuss possible careers they could enter later on in life.
