“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart”
Students at Elm Court are encouraged to learn to appreciate different countries, cultures, communities and people. By choosing Spanish our students gain the ability to understand and communicate in another language and develop a lifelong skill that can be used for work or leisure.
KS3: Through Years 7, 8 and 9 students learn about topics such as My World, Holidays and School. Students practice Speaking and Listening, Writing as well as Reading by engaging in fun activities. By the end of KS3, students will be put forward for an Entry Level Certificate (ELC).
KS4: Students in Years 10 and 11 can study Spanish as an option. Students can develop the knowledge they gained in KS3 and work towards the FCSE that helps students develop communication skills routinely acquired at levels of study equivalent to National Curriculum Levels 4, 5 or 6. This qualification bridges the gap between ELC and GCSE. Students making outstanding progress could also have the opportunity to get an iGCSE or a GCSE.
